GeoCities was once the “it” too. Granted, they are not much to look at now, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t getting use out of them. SOS

What if Google bought Facebook & decided to kill it? or if your Tweets vanished? Sure seems unlikely to happen because they are still fresh.

Should Yahoo provide a forwarding web address for GeoCities users? After all, it was the GeoCities users that built their site! @151years !!

It seems wise on a business perspective, but what about the users? Is Yahoo obligated to its users who may have spent years using GeoCities?

But alas, it looks like the sign reads “closed” rather than “for sale.” So say goodbye, & in words of Richard Marxx, “hold on to the memory”

Yahoo’s trying to get costs under control, but it looks like sticking a ‘for sale’ sign on GeoCities would be @ least the preferable option!

We learned that Yahoo would be closing the door on GeoCities back in April, so users have had plenty of time to migrate to other services…
